What is MDFITRx?
MDFITRx is a physician-designed health and fitness program. Our courses will help you build physical and mental fitness, get you into shape, give you more control over your health, and give you more freedom in your life.
How are the courses delivered?
Our courses are delivered online in the form of videos and articles. The course materials can be viewed on any modern device with internet access, such as a computer, tablet, or phone. Members will also receive emails as their course progresses, and will have access to supporting materials, workout logs, recipes, etc.
Why should I choose MDFITRx instead of another fitness program?
Almost all currently available fitness programs focus only on diet and exercise, and barely pay any service to the REAL reasons that people get unhealthy and out of shape. Let’s face it, there is a ton of free information on the web about how to perform every workout move and how to start on the latest and greatest diet! However, with all that information available, most of society still remains out of shape…we are drowning in information, but clearly information alone is not enough!
After treating thousands of patients over the years, Dr. Gandolfo came to the realization that an ACTION PLAN is really what is needed to make a major change life. We don’t need more information: We need to filter out the useful information from all the noise out there, and then create a foolproof plan to incorporate that useful information into our daily habits and routines.
Why should I take fitness advice from a medical doctor?
Achieving health and fitness goals takes lifestyle change. Making a successful lifestyle change takes a practical and realistic short-term and long-term plan that takes multiple factors into account simultaneously…sort of like treating a complex illness, which is what a physician does every day!
Let’s look at diabetes for example: If medicine were practiced like the current fitness industry is run, you would have some version of the “21 day diabetes fix” being marketed to patients with this chronic illness. How ridiculous does that sound?
But now apply that same logic to another chronic problem: The problem of obesity. There are hundreds of quick-fix programs for obesity, and absolutely none of them work, because you can’t “fix” a complex issue like obesity with a band-aid program that only addresses one factor like exercise!
So how does a doctor treat a chronic problem? A true professional will understand the natural history of the problem, know all the available treatments, and know how to implement these treatments for long-term success. When things don’t go exactly according to plan (which is the norm when dealing with complex conditions), a physician has the critical thinking skills and experience to troubleshoot the process and get his or her patient back on track.
As a practicing physician, Dr. Gandolfo has extensive medical training and experience in treating a wide variety of illnesses, especially “lifestyle diseases.” Safety and practicality were top on the list of must-have features for the MDFITRx program. Many fitness programs focus on potentially dangerous diet plans and risky exercises that may look great on social media, but may put clients at risk of injury or illness.
Our programs will never put your safety in jeopardy, but we will still get you the amazing results you deserve!
I want to lose weight. Is this a good program for me?
Absolutely! MDFITRx is not specifically a weight-loss only program, however you should expect a fair amount of weight loss from doing our program! Most importantly, we teach you the life habits and discipline necessary to both keep the weight off, and to continue to lose weight long after the program is over.
This is very different from most quick-fix weight loss programs that promise you a 20 pound weight loss in 30 days with a diet plan that is not sustainable for the long term, and almost always leads to gaining all of the weight back (and then some) after the program is over.
We don’t do the whole super-restrictive diet thing. We don’t even like the term “diet” because it implies a temporary way of eating that usually ends up failing you in the end. Our goal is to restructure the way you look at food so that you make consistent healthy choices, while eating real food that fuels your body and gets you closer and closer to your goals every day.
I don’t have time to exercise. Is this program for me?
Yes, in fact this is our favorite challenge! The idea of “finding time” is a fallacy! You must MAKE the time in your life for what is important. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and we can all structure our lives to incorporate our fitness goals into our daily routine. (The program only takes about 45 minutes each day.)
One of the most valuable parts of the MDFITRx course is learning how to make the time needed for fitness by optimizing the rest of your day and setting priorities to take control of YOUR time. We will first show you how to make the time for fitness, and then how to use that time to actually make your goals happen.
I don’t have any energy or motivation to exercise. Am I hopeless?
Far from it! Fitness is mostly a mental game. In fact, much of the MDFITRx program is designed to create that motivational spark to get you started on your fitness journey!
But we all know that motivation will fizzle out eventually, and that is where most conventional fitness programs will fail you. Since we recognize this fact, the MDFITRx program is also heavy on teaching self-discipline techniques like grit and determination that will help carry you through when motivation levels fall and you would otherwise want to quit. Yes, you can actually get better at these psychological skills if you practice them!
I don’t think I can do the workouts in the program! Is MDFITRx really going to work for me?
Yes! Our workouts are adaptable to almost any situation, and can be scaled down to meet you where you are right now. If you can’t do a single pushup, we’ve got you covered. If you are totally stiff and inflexible and sore all the time, we will get you moving again.
You are only competing with the person that you were yesterday. You can use our programs to make progress no matter where you start off!
Do I have to belong to a gym to do the workouts?
Absolutely not! Most of our workouts are designed to be done at home with little or no equipment besides a floor mat. As you progress you may want to get some simple dumbbells or a kettlebell to take things to the next level (we will guide you on what to get if you choose to). If you already belong to a gym, great! We will show you how to make the best of your membership by getting there and putting in some serious work!
